The City of San Antonio, FL is seeking a Public Works Director. Under the general direction of the City Commission, the Public Works Director will, but is not limited to:
Oversee diverse operations including municipal water utilities, roads, sidewalks and rights-of-way, stormwater infrastructure, and park facilities
Maintain schedules for the performance of regular maintenance tasks and repairs/improvements done by the Public Works department
Perform site inspections of work completed by City staff and external contractors
Facilitate training of Public Works staff on operational and emergency procedures
Develop plans for short and long-range projects, capital improvements to infrastructure, and equipment management
Prepare budget estimates, project specifications, and assist in reviewing bids and plans for contracted work
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and consultants during various project stages
Provide professional advice to the City Commission, staff, and consultants regarding areas of concern and improvement within the City’s operations
Consult with staff, including the City Clerk, Water Clerk, and City Attorney, to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations regarding municipal services
Promote professional working relationships with the public by providing customer service and presenting a positive image of the City of San Antonio
The Public Works Director position involves field work. Physical demands include frequent sitting, standing, and walking. The position occasionally requires reaching, climbing, bending, crawling, pulling, pushing, stooping, and occasionally lifting moderate to heavy objects. Work is largely performed in an outdoor environment under all weather conditions, with a risk of exposure to vehicular traffic, noise, and exhaust fumes. Use of proper safety equipment and adherence to safety precautions, including during tasks involving open trenches and construction areas, is mandatory.
Attendance at regularly scheduled commission meetings is required. Applicants must be able to promptly respond to emergencies, including those outside of normal working hours, on weekends, holidays, and during declared states of emergency in Pasco County and the City of San Antonio.
Applicants will be considered on the following:
Must possess a valid Florida Class E driver's license
Minimum two years of experience in a supervisory position
Minimum three years of experience in municipal public works administration, or similar agencies involving potable water systems
Experience in maintenance involving streets, facilities, stormwater, parks, operations, and maintenance
Knowledge of applicable construction and maintenance standards and specifications required by federal, state, and local government regulations
Knowledge of regulatory requirements common to the provision of public services
Experience with heavy equipment operations
Experience or certification of Florida Department of Transportation Advanced Temporary Traffic Control (formerly MOT)
Certification or ability to obtain certification in water plant operations
