Over the next three weeks (December 30, 2014 - January 16, 2015) , your Water Department will be testing fire hydrants throughout the City. This will cause increased turbulence in the lines, dislodging sediments. Therefore, you may occasionally experience discolored tap water. This water is safe to drink and does not require boiling, but washing clothes with discolored water may tint or stain garments. If this occurs, chlorine bleach will cause the stain to set.

If sediment is present in the water, wait ten minutes, then run a tap until the water clears. You can prepare by keeping bottles of water on hand for drinking and washing. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you have any questions, please call Rick Alley at (352) 588-2127.
